        6. Triana
Bernie Maitri, Piano
The final movement in Book Two of Iberia, "Triana" takes its name from a district in Seville that is known for its vibrant music, dance, and cultural traditions. The piece is a fiery and virtuosic showcase of Albeniz's command of Spanish musical idioms, featuring rapid-fire arpeggios, intricate rhythms, and bold harmonies. The piece begins with a lively, syncopated theme that is reminiscent of a traditional flamenco dance. The music builds in intensity as Albeniz explores various melodic and rhythmic variations on this theme, culminating in a thrilling climax that features thundering chords and dazzling runs up and down the keyboard.
