The Domestic Sublime is a song cycle set to the poetry of Chris Wallace-Crabbe AM, shining a light on the everyday domestic rituals and their shared meanings to all of us. Tchaikovsky\\\'s trio in A minor, Op. 50, is subtitled À la mémoire d’un grand artiste [In memory of a great artist], in reference to Nikolai Rubinstein, his close friend and mentor, who passed on 23 March 1881. This was the only work Tchaikovsky ever wrote for the piano trio. Tchaikovsky feared that he may have arranged music of a symphonic character as a trio, instead of writing directly for the instruments.
