Quilby Nelson , Piano |
Lucia Contini Anselmi was an Italian composer born in Vercelli Italy. She attended the Rome Conservatory where she studied both piano and composition. In 1913, her work, Ludentia won a gold medal in the International Composers’ Competition, held in Perugia. There is little research into her life and music to date. The title of this piece translates to Cumaean Sibyl, a particular oracle said to be located near Naples. This sibyl according to Greek mythology, was a guide for Aeneas in Virgil’s Aeneid. |
