Written at the age of 18 in 1774, the bassoon concerto was the first of Mozart\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s concerti written for wind instruments. The second movement resembles a tender operatic aria which highlights the instrument\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s singing qualities, and would go on to provide thematic material in the Countess\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' aria \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'Porgi amor\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' in Le Nozze de Figaro.

\\\"Poldowski\\\" was the professional name of Régine Wieniawski, a composer and pianist who went by several names during her career. \\\"L\\\'heure exquise\\\" is a setting of a Paul Verlaine poem about a gorgeous, moonlit hour of the night with the speaker of the poem\\\'s beloved.

Piano Sonata D.845 Op.42 in A minor Franz Schubert (1787 - 1828)

This sonata was completed in May 1825. Schubert’s financial situation began to ease with the publication of more works. In this year he also wrote his D major piano sonata D.850 and began his Symphony in C major D.944. D.845 in A minor comprises of four movements; Moderato, Andante poco mosso, Scherzo-trio and Rondo. The first movement begins with a unison phrase that is developed throughout this dramatic movement.
