Written at the age of 18 in 1774, the bassoon concerto was the first of Mozart\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s concerti written for wind instruments. The second movement resembles a tender operatic aria which highlights the instrument\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s singing qualities, and would go on to provide thematic material in the Countess\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' aria \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'Porgi amor\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' in Le Nozze de Figaro. |

This sonata was completed in May 1825. Schubert’s financial situation began to ease with the publication of more works. In this year he also wrote his D major piano sonata D.850 and began his Symphony in C major D.944. D.845 in A minor comprises of four movements; Moderato, Andante poco mosso, Scherzo-trio and Rondo. The first movement begins with a unison phrase that is developed throughout this dramatic movement. |
