| This is a song by the court jester Klaus, he and other servants were sent on a wild chase at night searching for Tove which is impossible. The ghost jester sings the song in an eccentric comic character, starting with an obscure riddle song inside this song, teasing, complaining about the king, caricaturing his laments, self-mockery, telling stories about crazy things they've done in the ghost form, such as making a fest, horse, racing. Lastly the song is finished with a warning to the creator that Waldemar is going to defeat him. | This work was first performed and recorded by the composer and pays hommage to Steven Mackey\\\'s time spent playing in rock bands based in northern California in his youth. Now a composition professor at Princeton, Mackey also includes a number of post-modern techniques and harmonies in the work. Notably, the work also features a loop pedal towards the end of the piece so that the performer may create an accompaniment to improvise over. \r\n\r\nGrungy is a fun and exciting piece and pushes the envelope of what the electric guitar can be in Western art music.\r\n\r\n\r\n | |
