Behold a virgin shall conceive...O thou that tellest No.8 The Messiah | George Frideric Handel (1685 - ) |
Recitative and Air |
William Evans-Papinski, Voice |
Andrea Katz, piano |
This Air from Handel’s Messiah is characterised by its jubilant and lively piano line, paired with the complementary legato melody or the alto, adorned with flowing and floral ornaments, especially on the more important words like “gloryâ€, or “ariseâ€. This joyful recitative and air encapsulates much of what one expects, wants and deserves from Handel’s Messiah. |

I |
Gulliver Poole, Piano |
Noah Coyne - Violin, Julia Bernardi - Violin, Simon Song - Viola, Fergus Ascot - Cello |
This piece was originally going to be a revision of Dvorak's first piano quintet, which he was greatly dissatisfied with, however he decided to write an entirely new piece instead of revising the original. This piece features Dvorak's own romantic lyricism meshed with elements of Czech folk music. |
